Storm Damage with Peak Roofing

After hail or high wind, we inspect the roof, document what we find, and help you understand your options. No pressure to file.

People think of this valley as mild, and mostly it is. Then a spring storm comes through and roofs across Ada and Canyon County lose shingles in an afternoon.

On May 28, 2026, a gust of 72 mph was recorded in the valley, among the strongest ever measured here in a May storm, with sustained winds around 45. A month later the National Weather Service warned of 60 mph gusts and hail across central Ada County, with damage to roofs and siding expected. Neither storm was unusual enough to make national news. Both were enough to end the life of a roof that was already tired.

How it works

From first call to finished job

  1. Step 1

    Tell us what's going on

Call or send a request with your address and what you're seeing: a leak, missing shingles, hail damage or just an old roof. Photos help if you have them.

  2. Step 2

    Roof inspection

The shingles, flashing, vents, pipe boots and gutters are checked, along with the attic or ceiling where water shows up, to find the cause and not just the stain.

  3. Step 3

    A clear quote

You get a quote that spells out the scope of work and the materials, with options when there's more than one sensible way to fix the roof.

  4. Step 4

    The work and the cleanup

The job is scheduled around the weather and your calendar. When it's done, the site is cleaned up, nails and debris included, and the finished work is walked through with you.

What clients say

5.0

“The whole Peak Roofing crew was so professional and efficient! We had an accurate estimate within a day, and thanks to good weather, the tear-off and full re-shingle also only took one day! We even had to replace several pieces of sheathing from an old moisture issue in the attic, and that was done quickly and perfectly. The guys came prepared and were careful with the demo. We were also very pleased with the cleanup after it was done. Love that big magnet picking up stray nails! A few neighbors also commented how quick they were and the result looks perfect! (…)”

Bonny Smith

“Highly recommend Peak Roofing! Great communication from start to finish, showed up when they said they would, and the crew was efficient and respectful. Solid workmanship and a smooth process.”

Andrew Barta

“Mike was great! We needed work done asap and he immediately came out to check out what was wrong. They were fast to fix things up and make our roof great and durable again! It was like new! Thank you!!”

FAQ

Storm Damage: common questions

How can I tell if hail damaged my roof?

From the ground, look for dents in gutters, downspouts, vents and siding, and for granules washed out of the downspouts. On the roof itself, hail leaves dark spots where granules were knocked off and soft, bruised areas in the shingles. If you see dented metal, have the roof checked even if it isn't leaking.

Should I go up on the roof after a storm?

It's safer not to. Wet or damaged shingles are slippery, and storm damage can hide weakened areas. Take photos from the ground, note the date of the storm, and leave the climbing to a roofer with the right safety equipment.

Will my insurance company pay for storm damage?

Many homeowner's policies cover sudden damage from hail and wind, but coverage, deductibles and deadlines for reporting damage vary. Check your policy, document the damage with photos and contact your insurer. They decide what's covered; an inspection gives you a clear picture of the damage before the adjuster visits.
